After an extensive career in business and consulting I took on the role of CEO, Mentys Executive Search, joining an exceptional team of talented and experienced research and search specialists.

After graduating, my career started with Rolls-Royce Technical Design and then to the Royal Navy as nuclear submarine Engineer Officer. I moved on to managerial and executive positions in companies in the fields of aero engine manufacture, nuclear and conventional power station engineering and power generation. Then into the world of alcoholic beverages – beer mainly!

My main enjoyments were the beer and creating managerial and executive teams that work well and efficiently together. My frustration was finding recruiters who understood what I wanted.

In explaining to the recruiter my need for a person deeply versed in, for example, world class manufacturing; advanced logistics; trade or brand marketing or even the qualities of a good CEO, the eyes would glaze over! So how could he or she possibly identify the person I was looking for?

Although not inherently an HR specialist, I've always taken a keen interest in HR issues and have seen effective team building as a core key to success. With Mentys, I was able to draw on the experiences of highly talented recruiters and to integrate their experience with my industry knowledge.

My career enabled me to understand what clients want and need, through having worked in various industries from manufacturing manager to Regional CEO in a FTSE Top 10 company, SABMiller, then the world’s 2nd largest brewer.

I’ve worked in in global, regional and country roles in seven countries across three continents, being exposed to a variety of cultures and working environments. This helps me to understand the complexity and influence of the environment and the type of candidate who will flourish.

So, the intent of Mentys is to help you in your search for competent and well-suited candidates for senior roles, by bringing strong technical and business knowledge, a deep understanding of what is needed to build a team and our extensive global networks, built over many years.
